Friend of the SeaSpanish Conservas La Gaviota’s Arroyabe brand tuna recently received Friend of the Sea certification, according to a release from Friend of the Sea.

The yellowfin and skipjack tuna will now bear the Friend of the Sea seal of approval, after a recent audit of the company showed the tuna comes from sustainable and traceable sources.

“We share the same sustainability vision of Friend of the Sea program,” said Laura Ruiz de Azua, sales manager for La Gaviota,. “ Friend of the Sea has become the leading sustainability standard for tuna and other species and this recognition provides an important added value for our tuna products.”

The canned tuna is distributed in Europe, mostly through the German, French, English, Swiss, Italian and Spanish markets.
