Taura Natural Ingredients’ factories in Belgium and New Zealand have been awarded ‘Grade A’ status under the BRC certification programme.

The company said that auditors gave Taura top marks at both sites under the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety following a detailed inspection and evaluation of the two facilities, which produce fruit pieces, pastes and flakes for the global market using Taura’s Ultra Rapid Concentration (URC) technology.

Taura said that it satisfied a range of demanding requirements to qualify for the Grade A status, demonstrating to the auditors that all of the systems in its factories met the exacting standards required under the BRC scheme. The comprehensive inspection process examined all of Taura’s procedures, confirming that Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP principles were being followed at all times.

“We’re extremely proud to have achieved Grade A status under the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety,” said Marc Cautaerts, general manager EMEA at Taura. “Taura takes food safety very seriously, which is reflected in the fact that we have now achieved this level of certification every year since 2004. In an era when food safety is at the top of the news agenda, we know it is important to be able to offer our customers this level of reassurance.”

“The Grade A status achieved by our factories means food manufacturers using our URC fruit ingredients will, in turn, be able to demonstrate to their own customers that their chosen downstream suppliers are taking safety seriously, an important factor in today’s highly competitive marketplace,” said Peter Tinholt, general manager for Taura Asia Pacific.
