Einstein Bros., responding to a voluntary salmon recall from Marinos Delifish S.A., has issued a voluntary recall of its Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon 4-ounce retail product sold in Georgia and Illinois.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the Marinos Delifish recall was due to the discovery of minimal traces of listeria monocytogenes in its smoked salmon product. Since Einstein Bros. is a customer of a subsidiary of Delifish, the supplier notified Einstein Bros. of a potential threat.
“No traces have been found in Einstein Bros. Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon retail product and the FDA’s announcement does not include the sandwich product, however Einstein Bros. is taking the precautionary step to remove all smoked salmon product from this supplier at its stores nationwide at this time,” the company said in a statement.
No illnesses have been reported at any Einstein Noah Restaurant Group restaurant with regards to this recall.
The recall applies to Einstein Bros. Darn Good Atlantic Smoked Salmon 4-ounce Retail package. The product carried the UPC code of 099892315200, lot numbers 249 through 291, and is isolated to Georgia and Illinois.
The lot numbers are on the white sticker on the front of the retail package. Anyone who purchased a product falling within the listed lot numbers can return it to a company store for a full refund.
