Müller UK has announced plans to create up to 100 UK jobs through a £17 million investment in a new butter manufacturing facility in Market Drayton, Shropshire.
The new facility will have the capacity to produce around 90,000 tonnes of cream and 45,000 tonnes of butter from this autumn.
Müller has traditionally produced yoghurt products in the UK and the move into butter making mirrors the company’s plants in Germany which produce a variety of dairy products.
Ronald Kers, Müller UK’s chief operating officer said the firm would be recruiting additional milk suppliers from spring.
Müller UK has recently invested heavily in increasing its UK operations and bought a 94% stake in Robert Wiseman Dairies last year. The company was subsequently rebranded Müller Wiseman.
