Vietnam’s tuna exports shot up in November 2012, going up more than 50 percent compared to the same period in 2011, and total exports from January to November were also up over 50 percent, according to the latest report from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Vietnam exported more than USD 44.6 million (EUR 33.5 million) in tuna products in November 2012 alone, an increase of 51.7 percent compared to November 2011. For the January to November period, Vietnam’s tuna exports totaled USD 526.5 million (EUR 395.2 million), which was up 53.1 percent over the same period in 2011.
According to the report, the U.S. was the largest consumer, getting 43.6 percent of those exports, followed by the EU and Japan.
Shipments to all markets in the top 10 saw growth in value except for Iran, which had a decline of 5 percent.
