UK-based soup manufacturer Yorkshire Provender has introduced its range of six soups in new 550ml ‘pouch in carton’ serving.
The new packs are available at 48 select Waitrose stores in the chilled food section for suggested retail price of £2.29 each, while the original pots are also available at other retailers across the UK.
Yorkshire Provender stated that the added benefits of the new packs include portability and reduced waste for retailers.
The new packaging comes in microwave-friendly cartons made of cardboard that keep the pack cool. These packs are also easier to handle and carry simple 'snip, heat and serve' on-pack instructions.
The packaging was developed by Terry Williams of Yorkshire Provender over a nine month period.
Yorkshire Provender's core range of soups include Root vegetable with pearl barley and thyme; Seasonal vegetable and lentil soup with British ham; Tomato and red pepper soup with creamy Wensleydale; Pea, spinach and fresh mint with coriander; Fresh beetroot and parsnip with horseradish; and Rich onion soup with Hambleton ale.
The company is also in talks with Sainsbury's about future listings of its products.
