Dietetic products and nutritional supplement company Laboratoire PYC has expanded its offering with the introduction of weight-control spreads.
The new offering comprises three products: tapenade (olive spread), poivronnade (pepper spread) and chocolate/hazelnut spread. They are supplied in the form of ready-to-use 40g sachets. The concept aims to add flavour and user-friendliness to the slimming diet offering.
The formulas have been developed for the strict phase of a low-calorie diet. Each sachet contains a maximum of 2 g of carbohydrates and sugars. They contain over 50% fewer carbohydrates and fats than traditional spreadable products.
This offering is accompanied by a new high protein dietetic whole grain bread, also suitable for a low-calorie diet. Laboratoire PYC says that the bread is innovative in that it has a high protein content, making up 25% of the formula, and a carbohydrate content that is much lower than that of traditional bread: 10% compared with 50% on average.
The company goes on to note that it is known that proteins play a key role in maintaining muscle mass during weight-loss diets and also offer the advantage of satisfying the appetite. This bread limits the feeling of hunger during the diet, according to Laboratoire PYC, and is also said to be rich in fibres: one pack of two slices of bread provides 4 g of the recommended daily intake of 20-25 g of fibres.
Laboratoire PYC is the nutritional division of SOLINA, the new name given to the group formed by the merger of SFINC (Belgian/Dutch group) and SAVENA (French group).
