Young Guns Produce, a US-based supplier of Hatch green chile, has expanded and updated its onion packing facility in Deming, New Mexico.

As part of the expansion and upgradation, the company has added 80,000ft2 of space to their warehouse, raising it to 110,000ft2 in total. The company has also introduced and installed new onion packing equipment in the facility.

The company claimed that the new equipment will allow them to pack about 90,000 pounds per hour. As the system is automated and eliminates error, producing a safer product. Lot numbers can also be uploaded in a flash allowing for accurate traceability on each package.

Young Guns Produce president Chris Franzoy said that the new venture is a part of their plan to modernize their facility and equipment with prominence on food safety.

"We can now pack for any type of customer in retail and food service. Plus, our company complies with GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) certification scoring a 97% on the last food safety audit and our farms are certified as well," added Franzoy.
