Finnish manufacturer of meat foods and products HKScan is set to lay off 123 workers at its operations in the country as part of its restructuring plan.
Of all the jobs, 49 jobs will be eliminated through permanent layoffs while the remaining layoffs will be done through retirement and fixed-term contracts, company noted.
In addition, HKScan has plans to redefine the roles of about 145 workers in order to boost its profits in the business.
The proposed changes will take place by the end of 2013 and the goal is to improve the annual profit by €5m.
HKScan manufactures, sells and markets pork and beef, poultry products, processed meats and convenience foods under strong brand names to retail, food service, industrial and export sectors.
The company has home markets in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Baltic countries and Poland.
