Core Tip: Danish company Upfront Chromatography has joined the InSPIRE platform.
The InSPIRE platform is a Danish public/private initiative to promote innovation and research in the field of food ingredients, focusing on process technology development, quality optimisation and better quality for new food ingredients.

Upfront said that it sees partnership with other players in the food ingredients market as the key to successful projects, and believes InSPIRe has the focus to create innovation in the food ingredients area by strong cooperation between the industry and academia.

The InSPIRe-project is financed by participating companies and by the Danish Ministry of Science, and has as its goal to be the leading platform in Denmark for research in the food industry by 2017.

Upfront Chromatography provides industrial scale chromatographic extraction technology. The company is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and operates around the world mainly with the food processing industry. Upfront says that its technology is already used globally on a commercial-scale for the production of food enzymes, protein ingredients and bioactive components.

According to Upfront, becoming a member of the InSPIRe-platform is a logical extension of the company’s participation in the innovation consortium NIGE - Natural Ingredients and Green Energy - focusing on sustainable isolation techniques. In the NIGE-project, companies and researchers in co-operation are developing new technologies and adjusting existing ones to utilise waste products for energy production.
