The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) has updated its transparency list, which lists ingredients that may be contained in fragrance compounds, to include 180 new fragrance ingredients.

In early 2010, IFRA for the first time published its transparency list, an exhaustive list of the ingredients that may be contained in fragrance compounds. This development came in response to the growing demand from consumer groups and follows the initiative by the Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), as well as the organization now known as the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) and Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) to disclose non-fragrance ingredients in their finished consumer products.

The 2011 VoU survey resulted in 180 new fragrance ingredients added to the transparency list (including 45 brand new materials and 135 already in the RIFM database but previously used only as flavor ingredients) and 182 ingredients that were removed from the transparency list. The list has been updated based on the 2011 IFRA use survey; the IFRA-affiliated companies operating in a variety of countries reported the fragrance ingredients used in their 2011 commercial activities.

The revised version is available on the IFRA website via the following link: http://www.ifraorg.org/en-us/Ingredients_2.
