Future Food Energy LLC on Monday night proposed to the Scottsbluff, Neb. City Council a plan to build a 358,000-square foot beef slaughter facility that would process up to 375,000 cattle per year and eventually employ up to 550 workers, according to the Scottsbluff Star Herald newspaper.
City Manager Rick Kuckkahn could not be immediately reached for additional comment, but told the Star Herald the company plans to host public forums to address community questions and concerns in the coming weeks.
Future Food Energy consists of local Nebraska and Wyoming cattle producers and a South Korean-owned investment firm. Beef from the plant would be sold domestically and exported to Asia.
