Pernod Ricard, the owner of Absolut vodka, Martell cognac and Jameson whiskey, is eyeing China as a key growth market despite a slowdown in the sales growth.
The company, which reported 35% increase in sales of spirits in 2012, expects an increase in sales to 40% by 2015.
The company is mainly counting on the expanding urban population for business growth.
Pernod Ricard China deputy managing director Horace Ngai said with that growth and the movement of more Chinese people into cities, the country should add about 10 million newly consumers each year in 2010-2020.
"We will have a lot more opportunities in more places," Ngai added.
To increase its market share, Pernod Ricard has already begun initiatives like offering classes in wine appreciation, opening private club in Beijing and other lifestyle guidance to attract more consumers.
