South African restaurant operator Famous Brands plans to open 55 outlets in African countries in 2013.
The move is part of the chain's strategy to expand its presence across the continent.
Famous Brands chief executive officer Kevin Hedderwick told Bloomberg that the company's brands are gaining hold in African region.
There are nearly 15 potential markets in the continent for the company outside its home market where it operates restaurant brands such as Steers burgers and Debonairs Pizza.
The company is also looking to make its way into the UK by opening it first Steers burgers outlet.
Further, the restaurant chain is also looking to open a restaurant under Debonairs Pizza brand in India.
Famous Brands has reported a 22% rise in its full-year earnings, driven by high sales growth and an increase in new store openings.
The company opened a total of 140 restaurants in 2013, including 110 in South Africa.
