HP Hood to invest $84.6m in Virginia UHT dairy processing plant

HP Hood, a US-based dairy operator, is set to invest $84.6m in its ultra-high temperature (UHT) dairy processing plant in Frederick County, Virginia.

The investment will increase the company's UHT dairy production capacity and is expected to generate 75 new jobs in the region.

HP Hood also plans to add new processing and packaging technologies to its operations.

Virginia Governor McDonnell said that the company established its UHT processing plant in Frederick County in 2001 and employed 170 people.

"This expansion further secures the Frederick County operation's standing as the largest plant of its type in the United States," McDonnell added.

HP Hood portfolio of brands and franchise products include Hood, Crowley, Simply Smart Milk, Heluva Good!, LACTAID, BAILEYS Coffee Creamers, HERSHEY'S Milk and Milkshakes and Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almondmilk.
