American fast food restaurant chain Subway, which currently operates around 39,500 sandwich shops globally, targets to have 100,000 stores by 2030.
Under the global expansion strategy, the company plans to open 10,000 new stores across the world by 2017.
In the first quarter of 2013, the company opened over 600 new stores worldwide.
Since 2007, Subway opened 11,000 new all-franchise restaurants.
Subway Restaurants chief development officer Don Fertman was quoted by Bloomberg Businessweek as saying that the company operates one location for every 8,000 people in its high-density markets.
Although Subway sees more growth opportunities in overseas, especially in Africa, it believes that there are still some potential US markets such as Philadelphia, outer boroughs of New York City and Boston.
