A new Napa Valley-style Buckeye Lake Winery has opened its doors for business at 13750 Rosewood Road in Buckeye Lake, Thornville, Ohio.
The winery is situated at the shore of Buckeye Lake on a piece of farmland purchased by owners Tracy and Laura Higginbothan.
The winery was painted green with copper-colored roof to match with the lakeside location. It features a banquet facility with seating capacity for 125 people, a deli counter that sells light snacks, and a patio with picnic tables and chairs, where guests can taste wines.
Buckeye winery currently has seven wines - three whites and four reds. The wines are Lake View Red Dry Red Wine, Lake View White Dry White Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Zinfandel 2010, Pinot Grigio 2011, Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 and Chardonnay 2008.
The grapes for the winery are currently grown, harvested and fermented in California. They are dispatched to Buckeye Lake Winery in 500gal containers, where they are processed, blended, aged and bottled.
The winery further plans to plant grapes at the winery so as to add a new sweeter dessert wine to its portfolio.
