Favourable weather conditions for the table grape, in both the flowering and settling stages, have led to greater production volumes and grapes of a good size, according to the Agrifood Industry and Agricultural Training.
It is estimated that 146,121 tonnes of table grapes will be harvested this year, accounting for an increase of 16% on 2012 figures, according to information provided by the Agricultural Statistics Service in partnership with the Local Agricultural Offices, and reported by the Council of Agriculture.
The Apirena and Red Gobe table grape have registered the highest increase in production volumes - 26% and 13% respectively.
In 2012, the region produced 125,910 tonnes of table grape; this was followed by the province of Alicante and Andalusia.
