The state government of the Indian state of Kerala plans to establish two dairy plants with an investment of INR800m ($13.42m).

This announcement was made by the Minister of Rural Development KC Joseph at the opening of a new ice cream plant in Peringalam, Kerala.

The two new plants will be set up in Sreekandapuram and Kuttippuram. The government has already finalised 15 acres of land of the facility in Sreekandapuram.

For the facility in Kuttippuram, the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA), a government agency, will identify 10 acres of land, reported the Hindu.

Joseph said that the efforts taken up by Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) or Milma, the State government and the Animal Husbandry Department can helped the state to improve the total milk production in the last two-year period.
