Maverick Scottish brewer BrewDog is set to take the US by storm, as co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie front a new craft beer show on NBCUniversal’s new
Esquire Network.
A six-part series of hour-long episodes, BrewDogs, is “about the life and soul of beer”, according to Watt and Dickie, who will be seen visiting iconic breweries across the US, including Deschutes, Anchor and Stone.
“In some ways, it’s a homecoming,” said Dickie. “American craft beer is what inspired James and I to become brewers. These are our heroes.”
The two brewers will report on the craft beer scene, looking at emerging trends and getting together with their American counterparts to come up with some distinctly oddsounding brews. Viewers will see them help make the most caffeinated beer in the world, brew on a fast-moving train, and develop what they call “the first real steam beer” – a beer designed to be consumed as a fog.
“I’m not sure why anyone in their right mind would give us a TV show – we’re two badly dressed brewers from north east Scotland – but now we’ve managed to convince someone that it’s a good idea, we’re definitely going to make the most of it,” Dickie added.
The series will hit screens in the US in late September, with a UK launch date to be confirmed.
