“In the first six months of owning the unit, Kendall has seen considerable savings by using this machine, but more importantly, we have sent much less waste into landfills,” says Dave Carpentier, ink department manager.

Kendall expects to further reduce solvent waste through plans to hire another ink technician to allow the unit to run on all shifts. This new solvent reclaim unit is part of Kendall’s ongoing efforts to reduce their overall impact on the environment.

Other sustainable efforts include down-gauging structures to minimize cost and waste; incorporation of new and proven technologies to reduce Kendall’s reliance on oil-based products; adding new equipment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; recycling programs at each facility; and growth in solvent-less adhesives to reduce energy use and minimize solvents.
