Fast food restaurant chain operator McDonald's Restaurants has outlined plans to open more than 100 new outlets in Taiwan over the next three years, in a move to expand the brand’s retail network in the country.

The proposed new stores are expected to create around 45,000 jobs and will increase the store count to 500 from the current 394 in Taiwan.

McDonald's Taiwan general manager Tan Wern-yuen said that the company will continue to invest in Taiwan, despite flat revenues in the first eight months of 2013 from a year earlier, reports Taipei Times.

"The operator further aims to raise the proportion of the outlets run by franchisees to 30 percent in 2016," Wern-yuen added.

Franchising business model is expected to take the centerstage in McDonald's expansion plans in Taiwan apart from direct-sale stores, which is in-line with the fast food operator's current preference for the model for the past two years.

As reported in Taipei Times, the number of franchisee-run outlets account for about 12% of its total stores, up from 7% in 2011.

McDonald's presently operates more than 34,000 outlets worldwide and has been present in Taiwan for 30 years.
