CTI Foods to invest $44 million in Kentucky plant

Custom Food Products, a business unit of CTI Foods L.L.C., Wilder, Idaho, will invest $44 million to expand its Owingsville plant and grow its ability to service the East coast. The plant manufactures value-added protein products.

CTI Foods acquired Custom Food Product in December 2012 for an undisclosed amount.

“CTI has been seeking to expand its Central and East coast manufacturing presence for several years,” said Bobby Horowitz, president and chief executive officer of CTI Foods. “With the acquisition of Custom Food Products last year, our way to the future became clear.”

The Owingsville plant currently employs approximately 150. The expansion will expand the facility’s workforce to 350.

CTI Foods has seven manufacturing facilities in the United States. Locations include Wilder; Carson, Calif.; Azusa, Calif.; two plants in Saginaw, Texas; King of Prussia, Pa.; and Owingsville.
