Tesco has been awarded Supermarket of the Year at the prestigious Decanter Wine Awards, which was held at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.
According to Laura Jewell from Tesco's wine buying team, "It was our effort to spread the word of wine appreciation that sealed the deal. Every year at Tesco Wine Fairs, over 11,000 customers have the opportunity to meet the wine team and participate in master classes and wine walks, as well as to taste up to 350 different wines."
She added, "The Decanter judges also said they were particularly impressed by our one-to-one customer focus, with live online tastings and Facebook Q&As. We’ve been working really hard to make sure we’re sharing and matching our customers’ passion for wines."

This is the first time in the ten year history of the competition that Tesco has received the accolade.
