August Schell Brewing of US has partnered with German-based brewery Gold Ochsen to produce their first collaborative beer - August Bock.
August Bock is a blend of Tettnang, Saphire and Smaragd hops from Tettnang, Germany. For a subtle twist, each brewery selected a different new variety for dry hopping.
For dry hopping of the beer, Gold Ochsen selected Mandarina Bavaria hops and Schell's Brewery used a German variety - Polaris.
Malts used for this beer include Pilsner, Munich, Abbey and Carapils from German-based Weyermann Malting.
Brewed in the blond doppelbock style, the new beer is deep golden amber in color and rich in flavor.
It offers hop bitterness with a malt backbone; hoppy character and aroma of Polaris dry hops.
To be available in 6-packs, 1/6 barrels and ½ barrels, the company will introduce this new brew in November 2013.
