Evolution Fresh, a subsidiary of US-based Starbucks, is set to open a new $70m juicery in Rancho Cucamonga, California, in a move to boost its share in the $1.6bn fruit drink market.
The new juice plant, which will be spread over an area of around 264,000ft², will be Starbucks' sixth manufacturing facility in the country.
Evolution Fresh is expected to employ approximately 190 people at the new juice production facility.
Commenting on the new juicery, Evolution Fresh general manager Chris Bruzzo said that the new factory is a testament to the breakthrough of cold-pressed juice.
The proposed juicery will be the company's only plant focusing on juice, made with ingredients mostly sourced from within 200 miles, reported the latimes.com.
Evolution Fresh juice is currently available in around 3,000 grocery stores across the US, with plans to expand to about 8,000 Starbucks and grocery retailers by the end of 2013.
