Kroger removes chicken linked to salmonella outbreak

Core Tip: Kroger Co. has removed certain Foster Farms raw chicken products from stores following an alert from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that the products were the source of a salmonella outbreak.
Kroger Co. has removed certain Foster Farms raw chicken products from stores following an alert from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that the products were the source of a salmonella outbreak.

Fred Meyer, Fry's, King Soopers/City Market, Ralphs, West Coast Food 4 Less locations, Smith's in southern Nevada and New Mexico, and QFC stores and warehouses have issued a product removal for chicken that originated at the Foster Farms processing facilities implicated by FSIS. Kroger has also alerted customers to return such products for a full refund.

The chicken products can be identified by USDA mark of inspection numbers P6137, P6137A and P7632.

The outbreak has so far sickened 278 in 18 states.
