Flowers Foods will re-open the Henderson plant in Nevada that shut down in November 2012 when Hostess Brands went into liquidation. The site was one asset that Flowers acquired in its $360m buy of Hostess brands including Wonder Bread and Nature’s Pride in March this year.
“As we’ve said since acquiring the Hostess assets this past summer, our plan is to open bakeries as we need additional production capacity to meet market demand,” said president and CEO of Flowers Foods Allen l. Shiver.
“Henderson is strategically located to help us continue to build market presence in this region,” he added.
The production plant, once in operation, will employ 60 people, producing Nature’s Own for the markets in southern Nevada and parts of California.
