Ahold USA has announced that Gordon Reid will join its Giant-Landover division as president, effective Monday. Reid replaces Bhavdeep Singh, who has served as interim president since September, when Anthony Hucker resigned. Singh continues to serve as executive vice president, operations, Ahold USA.
Reid will manage all aspects of the division with responsibility for Giant-Landover’s sales, operating profits, organization and associates. Based in Landover, Md., Giant operates 169 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia under the Giant Food banner. The division employs approximately 20,000 associates.
With more than 30 years of retail experience, Reid most recently served as group director for commercial services for Dairy Farm International, a leading pan-Asian retailer that operates more than 5,600 retail outlets throughout Asia. While with Dairy Farm International, Reid created and delivered on the growth strategy for China and Taiwan, with direct responsibility across three formats. Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions of progressive responsibility at Dairy Farm International and other large retailers, including Boots the Chemists, where he led retail and pharmacy operations and with Tesco.
At Tesco, he held international leadership roles in operations including director, small format in Central Europe; operations director, Hungary; senior Tesco executive, India; and executive vice president east region, China.
