International fast food restaurant chain McDonald's has introduced home delivery in Sydney, Australia, by offering ‘family value’ packs in the suburb of North Parramatta.
The home delivery has been introduced on a trial basis.
The family value pack includes hamburgers, soft drinks, chicken nuggets, and fries, with the option of side salads. The menu offerings are available between 5pm and 9pm every day.
A McDonald's spokeswoman told the Sydney Morning Herald that the trial had been well received so far.
However, this move is being criticized by health campaigners as North Parramatta has been recognized as an area struggling with obesity epidemic. In response, the company noted that the location of the store was selected based on the population, density and accessibility of the area.
Currently, McDonald's home delivery is available in many Asian countries, including Singapore and Korea.
Headquartered in the US, McDonald's presently operates 34,000 restaurants worldwide.
