AarhusKarlshamn (AAK), a Sweden-based edible oils and fats producer, is all set to construct a new specialty and semi-specialty edible oils plant in Jundiai, São Paulo, Brazil.
For the project, the company will invest around SEK400m over a two-year period and will see an additional capacity of 100,000 tons to 120,000 tons when the facility is fully operational.
Construction of the plant is due in late 2015.
The plant will feature an innovation center to develop new products and solutions.
AAK Group president and CEO Arne Frank said, "There is a large potential for AAK in the Brazilian market. It is the world´s 7th largest economy and a number of our global customers already have significant presence.
"This new factory is an integral part of AAKtion, and adds presence in a growth market which is identified as strategically important."
AAK South America managing director Edmond Borit said, "The new factory will expand our product portfolio of Food Ingredients and Chocolate & Confectionery products in Brazil and particularly strengthen our ability of supplying Bakery and Dairy solutions as well as further develop our Chocolate & Confectionery business."
