With the arrival of Tesco Plc as the newest member of the RTRS, we have now presence in the whole retailers sector of the UK.

It is always good news to welcome new members who join RTRS. And it is even better news to know that a whole sector of the UK has our back in this journey to support and promote responsible soy production. Retailers are a key link of the soy value chain to get the RTRS message to final consumers and provide them with responsible products.

In this case we welcome Tesco Plc, a multiple retailer with operations in 12 countries and 530,000 employees across Europe and Asia. It is a large user of soy, both for feed and for food, which is committed to sustainable sourcing. Tesco already supports the Consumer Goods Forum commitment to zero net deforestation by 2020 as well as the Brazil Soy Moratorium, and now chooses to join RTRS recognizing that the issues facing the sector are complex and interconnected, requiring action by stakeholders working in concert.

The retailers sector of the UK is integrated of: Marks & Spencer, ASDA, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd, Morrisons Supermarkets PLC, The Co-Operative Group, Tesco Plc. And all of them are members of the RTRS.
