French retailer Leclerc has launched a new Drive facility at a motorway service store.
The shopping collection point is located on the A8, between Frejus and Cannes, in the south of France.
The initiative is the first such click and collect site in the country.
In choosing the motorway store as a Drive location, LeClerc is hoping it will appeal to commuters on their way to work, or those on holidays in the area.
“Drive offers the advantages of shopping online without the hassle and identical hypermarket prices,” said the retailer.
The Drive site offers more than 8,000 products to shoppers.
Depending on how the pilot store performs, LeClerc may consider rolling out the concept to other locations.
In 2013, Leclerc held a 19.6% market share with Carrefour at 20.3% and Intermarche at 14.2%.
Earlier this month, a new forecast by Planet Retail predicted that the click and collect service would experience explosive growth over the next three years.
