Quebec-headquartEVOK packagingered Exceldor has selected EVOK packaging, a polystyrene foam food tray (XPS), from Cascades for its meat products range.

EVOK, claimed to be made from 25% recycled material, is designed for packing meats, poultry, fish and seafood, as well as fruit and vegetables.

The packaging product has been awarded a UL Environment claim validation for its recycled content.

EVOK allows Exceldor to reduce its annual greenhouse gas emissions by around 37 tons, Cascades said.

Exceldor communications and marketing vice president Isabelle Drouin said, "It was only natural for Exceldor to choose EVOK packaging, and to offer a responsible alternative to our customers."

Cascades Specialty Products Group president and COO Luc Langevin said, "By incorporating 25% of recycled polystyrene into our products, we have reduced greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) by 20% compared with our traditional polystyrene foam trays."

Exceldor is a co-operative with $475m in revenues and workforce of more than 1,100. It operates production sites in Saint-Damase, Saint-Anselme and Saint-Bruno -de-Montarville in Quebec.
