Croatian Beer Ožujsko Pivo Launches Canned Beer Collectible

With the tag line “We Came to Leave a Mark”, Ožujsko Pivo utilized Ball Packaging Europe’s variable printing technology Dynamark to create twelve can collectibles featuring the names of key players on the national team. Available individually and as a six-pack, this promotional pack will be sold in Croatia starting April 29th.

The new design combines the characteristic red-and-white checkered pattern of the Croatian flag, coupled with the national football star jerseys, featuring both the names and numbers of key players such as Mario Mandžukić and Luka Modrić.

“Croatian fans are extremely happy that their team will participate at the World Cup in Brazil,” says Bosko Beban, Brand Manager at Zagrebačka Pivovara, the brewery producing Ožujsko. “Our red-and-white football cans are adding to the hype, offering Croatian consumers their favourite beer in packaging with high potential to become a collector’s item.”

Customized mass production

Ball produced a first batch of one million red-and-white aluminium cans for Zagrebačka Pivovara with special customized design thanks to the Dynamark technology. This technology can be integrated completely into the existing printing process and allows variability in design at normal production speed. ‘We are thrilled to be partnering with Ožujsko Pivo in bringing these collectible cans to the market. With the lead up to World Cup 2014, our Dynamark technology provides an exciting platform through which Croatian football fans can further show their support.’

With up to up to 24 different monochromatic graphic elements that can be added to a defined vacant area of the basic design, Beban further added, “We chose Dynamark because it combines customization with high production output. It will help make our World Cup football campaign unique.”

Beer and cans – a good match

The aluminium can is perfect packaging for Ožujsko’s lager beer: It is completely light-proof and oxygen-tight, protecting the beverage from outside influences. Football fans can take the unbreakable and light-weight can everywhere, enjoying their beer while celebrating their team at home or on-the-go.
