Sealed Air’s innovative shrink film Cryovac® CT was crowned a winner in the ‘other’ category of the WorldStar Packaging Awards. The high performance micro-layered shrink film won the award for its ability to improve packaging performance and retail appeal, while providing a step change in sustainability.
The awards are organised by the World Packaging Organisation and are widely regarded as the packaging industry Oscars as they attract 300+ entries from over 30 countries around the globe.
46 packaging solutions were shortlisted in the ‘other’ category, with just 26 being awarded winner status. The category is open to a whole range of packaging materials, which must have won a recognised domestic or international award. Sealed Air’s Cryovac® CT had previously won two awards including one in the Czech Rep and one in Germany for best packaging of the year.
The high-performance polyolefin shrink film incorporates between 25 to 50 discrete layers versus conventional shrink films that often comprise 1, 3 or 5 layers. Cryovac® Technology improves packaging performance, while reducing packaging weight by approximately 30% - 50%. The film can be used to shrink wrap textiles, produce, home and hardware, paper and converted paper products, and for the commercial wrapping of boxes and packs.
Natalia Balogh, European Product Manager for Shrink Packaging at Sealed Air, commented: “It is a real accolade to win such a globally recognised award. We believe Cryovac® offers customers a range of leading performance benefits including reduced operational costs and lower carbon emissions. The award win is an excellent endorsement of such benefits and will help promote these further across Europe.”
In 2013, Sealed Air Europe expanded its Cryovac® CT range further with the launch of four Cryovac® CT films including three general purpose shrink films for a wide range of applications and one anti-fog shrink film that provides excellent clarity and shrink to improve cleanliness, hygiene and safety for produce.
