The Irish-Swiss food group Aryzta has reported a 16.5% increase in revenue to €1.37 billion for the three months to the end of April.
Growth was particularly strong in Europe and North America, markets which when combined represented almost 60% of the company’s sales during the period, with revenue from its majority shareholding in Origin Enterprises making up most of the remainder.
The quarterly figure puts Aryzta’s revenue for the nine months to April at €3.47 billion, 7.1% higher than the same period of last year.
According to a trading update issued by the bakery business, European food revenues increased by 17.6% to €387.5 million.
“Underlying revenue in the food business increased by 3.7% in the quarter compared with the same period last year. Overall food revenue increased by 14.9% despite adverse currency movements,” chief executive Owen Killian said.
