White susugargar delivered against the expired August futures contract on NYSE Liffe in London amounted to 5,086 contracts, according to figures on the exchange’s website.

Each contract represents 50 metric tons of the sweetener, equating to 254,300 metric tons in total. That’s more than double the 107,300 tons delivered against the August futures last year and compares with 40,000 tons for the May delivery. The August futures expired July 16 at $450.20 a ton.

About 91 percent of the delivery, or 4,604 contracts, will come from Thailand, the second-biggest exporter after Brazil, the data showed. Another 482 lots will come from Guatemala.

Broker UBS Ltd. acted on behalf of clients as the only buyer. Brokers acting as sellers on behalf of clients included BNP Paribas Commodity Futures Ltd., Jefferies Bache Ltd. and Louis Dreyfus Commodities Suisse SA.
