New Zealand-based dairy establishment a2 Milk has secured approval from Chinese regulatory agencies to resume supply of infant formula products.
The company will now start offering a2 Platinum-branded infant formula across the country; the product will be imported by its distributor China State Farm Shanghai.
As per the new rules imposed, offshore infant-formula producers are required to register with Chinese regulators before beginning the delivery of their product shipments.
a2 Milk, along with its partner Synlait Milk, had sought registration to sell the products.
Chinese authorities have introduced new rules in response to the recent food safety issues in the country.
Apart from a2, several other companies including Nutricia, Westland Co-Operative Dairy Company, Canpac International, Gardians, Sutton Group, Dairy Goat Co-Operative and GMP Dairy have secured approval to sell infant formula in China.
