Core Tip: Wine producers Jonata and The Hilt have acquired Rancho Salsipuedes vineyards in Santa Barbara county, California.
Wine producers Jonata and The Hilt have acquired Rancho Salsipuedes vineyards in Santa Barbara county, California.

The transaction includes three separate vineyards: Bentrock, Radian and Puerta del Mar, where Rancho Salsipuedes produces exclusive pinot noir and chardonnay grapes.

A part of the property is located within the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, which is ideal to grow world-class winegrapes.

Jonata and The Hilt winemaker Matt Dees said that the Sta. Rita Hills region has been the foundation of The Hilt since its inception in 2008.

"We feel the varied and unique vineyard blocks will provide us with a broad spectrum of flavors and textures to produce wines of depth, complexity and freshness. In addition to building the estate program for The Hilt, we also look forward to continuing to sell fruit to high quality producers throughout the state," added Dees.

The property also has an additional plantable acreage, besides the existing vineyard acreage.

The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Wine industry mergers and acquisitions advisory firm Zepponi & Company has played a financial advisory role in the transaction.
