Cal-Maine Foods has established a joint venture (JV) with Hickman’s Egg Ranch for specialty egg sales in Arizona, US.
As per the deal, the new JV Southwest Specialty Eggs will acquire the Egg-Land's Best, a franchise for the Arizona state.
This franchise has exclusive licensing agreements for the sale of Egg-Land's Best and Land O' Lakes branded specialty eggs, as well as other premium brands.
Cal-Maine Foods president and CEO Dolph Baker said the transaction is in line with firm's growth strategy to expand market reach in specialty egg sales.
"Consumer demand for specialty eggs has continued to grow, and Cal-Maine Foods is well positioned to meet this demand with a variety of healthy choices for our customers," Baker added.
Hickman's Egg Ranch holds processing operations in Arizona, Colorado and California, with capacity of around six million laying hens.
Cal-Maine is involved in the production, grading, packing and sale of fresh shell eggs, including conventional, cage-free, organic and nutritionally-enhanced eggs.
