Popcorn brand Portlebay Popcorn has launched a new sweet range of popcorn.
New flavours: Cinnamon Swirl, Very Berry and Lemon Sherbet will be available in 25g impulse bags (rsp: 85p) and 75g sharer bags (rsp: £1.89) from August.
The sweet range will be stocked in Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores as well as a national network of premium independent retailers.
The new sweet flavours will sit alongside their current savoury range of popcorn; which are already available in Tesco and Booths.
Existing flavours include: Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup, Chilli & Lime, Wasabi & Sweet Ginger, Orchard Wood Smoked Cheddar and Original Kracklecorn Sweet & Salty.
Launched in 2012 by Jonty White, Neil Adams and Steve Wardlaw, Portlebay Popcorn is wholegrain, naturally high in fibre and less than 115 calories per 25g bag.
Hand popped in small batches at their Devon Poppery, Portlebay Popcorn is cooked with rapeseed oil and raw cane sugar to give it its crunchy texture.
The new sweet flavours were developed after the Portlebay Popcorn creators saw a gap in the sweet snack market.
Jonty White, owner and creator of Portlebay Popcorn said:
“We’ve seen significant growth and increased volume sales in the sweet snack category over the last few years; we’re gaining more listings for our impulse packs and our sharer bags remain popular.
“There are plenty of savoury or sweet snack options out there at the moment, but popcorn-wise we wanted to create something that was different from traditional toffee-covered popcorn or squidgy popcorn with crisp flavours.
“With our new sweet popcorn range we wanted to create unique, authentic and natural flavours: our Lemon Sherbet has a real lemony, zingy fizziness that will make you smile; our Very Berry is for fruit lovers with a delicious fruity combination of blackcurrants, cranberries and raspberries; and our Cinnamon Swirl is for those looking for a warming spicy treat with a hint of apple.”
Portlebay Popcorn is available in Tesco and Booths as well as a national network of premium independent retailers.
