US-based Golden State Foods has acquired ownership of New Zealand-based Snap Fresh Foods, for an undisclosed amount.
Snap Fresh Foods supplies premium salad greens, vegetable mixes, baby-peeled carrots, fresh sprouts, dressings and condiments.
As part of the acquisition deal, Golden State has acquired two facilities of Snap Fresh in New Zealand. These facilities serve the local region as well as export products to China.
Snap Fresh owns retail brands such as Krispkut, Farmer Bill's, Dashboard Diner, Salad Shakes and Sproutman.
Only the processing assets of Snap Fresh Foods' brands have been acquired by Golden State Foods, while its farm suppliers will continue their existing operations and contract exclusively to Golden State.
Golden State Foods executive vice president and COO Neil Cracknell said the company is looking forward to expand regional produce foodservice business into the fast-growing retail sector with such a successful brand as Snap Fresh.
"The addition of Snap Fresh provides great growth opportunities for GSF particularly in the retail salads segment, while providing new products and capabilities to our existing food service customers in the region," Cracknell added.
