Golden State Foods acquires remaining interests in KanPak US and KanPak China

Core Tip: US-based Golden State Foods (GSF) has purchased the remaining minority interests in KanPak US and KanPak China.
US-based Golden State Foods (GSF) has purchased the remaining minority interests in KanPak US and KanPak China.

With the acquisition, GSF has gained complete ownership, control and management of the company in the two countries.

Based in Arkansas City in Kansas, Kanpak produces a wide range of aseptic dairy products, which include smoothies, coffee creamers and soft-serve ice cream, as well as increased shelf-life products.

KanPak founder and chairman of the board Dennis Cohlmia preferred to sell the remaining stake in the company in order to pursue other business opportunities.

Golden State Foods chairman and chief executive officer Mark Wetterau said: "We appreciate Dennis and his family for their entrepreneurial spirit in establishing KanPak five decades ago, along with his knowledge and expertise of aseptic processing.

"We are grateful for his insight and willingness to partner with Golden State Foods in recent years to expand the company's product offerings and services throughout the world and take the company to the next level."

The president and chief executive officer of KanPak US, Larry McGill, will retain his position even after the complete acquisition.

He will continue to work along with his team in order to expand the company's products and services with an aim cater to customers of GSF and its growing markets.

In 2012, GSF bought 51% interests in KanPak China, thereby becoming the company's majority owner.

In 2013, GSF acquired the majority shares of KanPak US, which included operations in Connecticut, Canada, Kansas, Mexico and China.

The company owns eight facilities and employs more than 800 associates worldwide.
