French agricultural co-operative Terrena and oilseed investment firm Sofiproteol are in talks to acquire a controlling stake in poultry exporter Doux.
If these talks succeed, Terrena will acquire 52.5% stake in Doux from D&P Participations, Reuters reported.
The financial terms of the acquisition are not disclosed.
Doux produces and exports poultry and poultry-based processed products for retail, food service and catering industries in Europe, the Middle East, and internationally.
Its product lines include whole poultry; and processed products. It offers fresh and frozen products, such as breaded products, nuggets, snack products, chicken and turkey franks.
In 2014, Doux generated around $510m in sales and was in court administration in 2012 and 2013 when it ceased most of its activities in France in order to focus on its export business.
Terrena's poultry division recorded $954m(€850m) in sales last year, while the group revenue was €4.7bn.
