Harvest Specialty Mills has raised funding to build a grain cleaning, milling and packaging facility in Greater Toronto Area, Canada.

The C$2.6m ($2.12m) funding will be invested in a 21,000ft2 Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) facility that will offer grains, pulses and dried fruits.

This facility will support wholesale and retail sales of CFIA-approved food grade ingredients.

Harvest Specialty Mills CEO Jon Dwyer said: "Harvest Specialty Mills is strategically positioned to take advantage of the growing trend to mainstream highly nutritious ingredients by melding artisanal grains, pulses and dried fruits with modern sales techniques, utilizing Shopify infrastructure.

"Our new facility, matched with this innovative technology, will allow us to fulfill orders for all customers; from kitchen pantries, to bulk orders and national contracts for some of North America and Europe's largest bakeries and food producers."

Harvest's new facility will be kosher and British Retail Consortium (BRC)-certified food-grade establishment.

Harvest Specialty Mills is also working with Shopify on an industry-first customer relationship management and online ordering system.
