This was stated by the president of the Central Union of Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct (SCRATS), José Manuel Claver, at the end of the general meeting of the Union held in Murcia, attended by the possible future president of the Region, the Conservative, Pedro Antonio Sánchez. Claver asked Sánchez to fight these issues in Madrid before the end of the current legislature, reports Europa Press.
Claver conveyed the "concerns from irrigators" and stated that they would have wanted for the National Hydrological Plan (NHP) to be approved, lamenting that while it may have been possible to develop it, in the six months left of the current term it will be "virtually impossible." "I wish it weren't so," he said.
Lastly, he recalled that the powers to achieve these solutions "are exclusive to the state," that is, the Government of the nation, hence why he urged Pedro Antonio Sánchez to put pressure on Madrid on these two points.
For his part, Sánchez considered the irrigators' claims "indispensable", and announced that he would support them either "as opposition leader or as president of Murcia."
