The centre had already accumulated a solid experience with its panel of expert tasters, whose work has mainly focused on strawberries and citrus. Now the panel has been expanded to horticultural products in general.
Two tastings have already been carried out this year, aimed at determining consumption habits of the general public. This requires the collaboration of a large group of consumers consisting of about 60 people. The tastings were used to evaluate two strawberry varieties and two strawberry jams; another one for table grapes has already been scheduled and there are plans for other products further down the line.
For years, Adesva has been organising professional tastings in order to help companies and producers in the province to find out about the strengths and weaknesses of their products.
The panels of expert tasters, formed for each of the sessions by 8 people, has focused its work on the main fruits grown in the province of Huelva, such as strawberries, red fruits and citrus.
The head of R+D+i at Adesva, Ana Arias, said that the dynamics of the original sessions can be easily adapted to any type of product of interest for the companies involved, whether fresh or processed.
