Packaging of fresh fruit and vegetables is an ever-evolving area for the industry, and Techno-Pak is a company delivering the latest innovative solutions for small, medium and large businesses, from Parmalat to Nestle and Gloria Jeans. Savings on labour costs, reduction on food waste and more convenience – as demonstrated by the trials of bagged slices of watermelon for sale in US supermarkets reported recently - are all important to Techno-Pak customers, according to CEO Jimmy Calderaro. Creating a controlled atmosphere, and a barrier between fresh produce and water, dust, vapours and oxygen, is often a critical requirement of Techno-Pak clients. Gas and vacuum technology known as MAP can also be used to alter the atmosphere inside a hermetically sealed bag using Techno-Pak machinery.
Key to all of those is the automatic packing machine offered by Techno-Pak, which is form filled sealing technology that fills pre made bags and trays more efficiently. The technology is used to prepare for all stages of the distribution and logistics chain, including transport, warehousing, retail stores and storage at home with consumers. “Our Packaging machines are also able to contain, protect, preserve, transport, inform, and sell the products into fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) market segments,” says Mr Caldarero.
When it comes to smaller sized businesses, the most important thing to do is think longer term, according to Mr Calderaro, and see the savings that will accrue over time in reduced labour costs and better efficiencies. “Long term, small business can expect more and pay less with good organization,” he says.
Techno-Pak machinery supplies everything from entry level units for smaller or less established businesses to semi-automated units and end of line turnkey systems.
