The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), the premier Institute in the country and an autonomous body working under Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India will be organising INDIAPACK 2015, from October 8–11, 2015, in Mumbai.

This four day mega packaging industry event will witness the most professionally organised Packaging exhibition in India bringing a comprehensive range of packaging equipment, services and packaging technologies from across the world to meet the sourcing requirements of packaging and allied industries.

This year the buyers will see products from some of the largest and eminent Industry exhibitors. The Institute is expecting companies from over 30 countries to be present with latest display of Packaging Technology. The visitors will see packaging equipment/machinery/plants on display with live demonstration.

In line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision to take India’s annual export tally to 350 billion USD in 2016, INDIAPACK aims to provide a platform to the local packaging industry players to interact with international companies, and identify export opportunities.

Currently, the Indian Governments’ annual exports amount to 305n USD.
Only 1.5 per cent of that is from the packaging industry; amounting to 4.5bn USD. There is tremendous potential for export growth.

The ‘make in India’ initiative aims to encourage more and more local manufacturers to export. Currently, India’s packaging export comes from the big packaging companies; that comprise only 15 per cent of the domestic packaging players. The remaining 85 per cent are SMEs and MSMEs focussing on the local market.

Dr. N C Saha, director, Indian Institute of Packaging, says, “Even among SMEs and MSMEs, it is the SMEs that are more geared up for export. They comprise about 60 per cent of the industry at present. They will benefit hugely by participating in INDIAPACK. This year also marks the inclusion of AIPMA’s flagship exhibition “Plastiworld” and WICMA's "Corrupack" in INDIAPACK itself. This will be the largest showcase for the packaging industry in India.”

Saha further said that it was heartening that the Institute is also stepping in to 50th year of service to the industry and, the INDIAPACK-2015 being organised during the golden jubilee year of the Institute. Coinciding with this Exhibition, Institute has also planned to host two days 'World Packaging Congress' with theme of Packaging – Strategies for Global competitiveness and added that it was expected that the representative from around 35 countries of WPO would be participating in the event. It is also planned to concurrently organise Buyer Sellers Meet, Exhibitors Forum, INDIASTAR Award night”.

Tarun Daga, chairman, World Packaging Congress 2015 comments, “This year we have something new which is called Packaging Research Conclave, this conclave is about paper & poster research done by all those who are engaged in research work. This will be useful for academic purpose and academic research which will also be a key takeaway for faculties & students. We are expecting around 800-1000 delegates to the congress. This will be a good platform for knowledge sharing across all packaging media”.

Concurrent Events

The ‘World Packaging Congress’ is also planned concurrently with INDIAPACK 2015. National & Internationally renowned experts will present their papers in the Summit to cover Prospects of Packaging Industries, Printing Technology, Converting Technology, Packaging media, Packaging System & machinery, Package Testing & Evaluation, Package distribution etc. Representatives form Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia and Africa will converge at INDIAPACK 2015.
